For those of us who wonder what the inside of electronic drums actually look like....here ya go. I was curious as to what was inside the Roland drums that made em' cost....well on average 1.5K more than Pintech.  What I found is that the only difference is the shape of the foam that touches the head is different.  Because of Roland's patent, Pintech, Hart and the other companies can't use a smaller foam rubber piece....but an end user can change them!  And Roland's patent also covers the 2-ply heads that they use, which Remo makes.  Everyone else's has to be single ply! Pintech's are made by Evans and Hart's are made by Aquarian.  If you have other pics to add, please email them to me and I will do my best to get them on here!! At this time I don't have any pics of a Yamaha and I will be adding Pintech at a later time too!

Pintech

This is one of the newer version Pintech CC101ST 10" Single Zone drums. Under the foam is the head trigger (piezzo element).

Hart Dynamics

This is the inside of an older version Hart snare. Under the foam is the head trigger (piezzo element).

These are the rim triggers for the dual zone rimshot function on the snare.

Older version Hart snare.

This is the newer Hart TE3.2 version drum.

TE3.2 up close. This center mounted platform now houses both the head and rim trigger.

The rim trigger (piezzo element) is now center mounted. The head trigger is mounted on a platform that uses a shock absorption system.

Roland

This the inside of the older Roland PD120. Roland's head trigger is under the cone shaped foam. The rim trigger is mounted on the cross bar just beside it.

Another pic of a Roland PD120.

Same model, PD120, but user moved the rim trigger to the shell.

This is their newer PD125. They have gone to what is now referred to a "spider basket". Both head and rim triggers are center mounted.
